Product Description
At Hemway Steel, we offer stainless steel bars in a variety of shapes, including flat, half round, hexagon, round, and square. Available in multiple grades such as 17-4, 303, 304, 316, and 416, our stock lengths can be customized to meet your specific application requirements through sawing, punching, drilling, milling, welding, and bending. Our precision sawing equipment ensures fast turnaround times and tight tolerance cuts.
Core Advantage: "Customizable" Strength through Heat Treatment – The Perfect Balance of High Strength and Corrosion Resistance
17-4PH (also known as Type 630 stainless steel) is a martensitic precipitation-hardening stainless steel. The "PH" in its name stands for "Precipitation Hardening". Through solution treatment followed by aging heat treatment, it precipitates copper-rich hardening phases, achieving strength far exceeding ordinary stainless steels. More remarkably, the strength level of this material can be "customized" by adjusting the aging temperature – the same bar can achieve tensile strengths ranging from 930MPa to 1310MPa through different heat treatment processes, meeting diverse engineering design requirements.
We provide more than just round bars; we offer precision material solutions for your high-strength component manufacturing.
Why Choose 17-4PH Stainless Steel Round Bar?
1、Adjustable High Strength, Flexible Design
The most unique advantage of 17-4PH is its strength adjustability through aging heat treatment. Common aging conditions include H900, H1025, H1075, H1150, etc., each corresponding to different strength levels.
480℃ (H900) Aging: Tensile Strength ≥1310 MPa, Yield Strength ≥1180 MPa, Hardness up to HRC40, ideal for high-wear applications.
550℃ (H1025) Aging: Tensile Strength ≥1060 MPa, offering good balance of strength and toughness.
580℃ (H1075) Aging: Tensile Strength ≥1000 MPa.
620℃ (H1150) Aging: Tensile Strength ≥930 MPa, with optimal impact toughness.
2、Excellent Corrosion Resistance
Containing 15-17.5% chromium and 3-5% nickel, 17-4PH exhibits good corrosion resistance to atmospheres, dilute acids, alkalis, and salt media – comparable to 304 and 430 stainless steels. Particularly suitable for H₂S-containing acidic environments and Cl⁻-rich saline conditions.
3、Good Comprehensive Mechanical Properties
Beyond high strength, 17-4PH offers excellent corrosion fatigue resistance and water droplet erosion resistance. The material has no temper brittleness and maintains low hydrogen embrittlement sensitivity even at high strength levels.
4、Good Workability and Heading Performance
In the solution-annealed condition, 17-4PH exhibits excellent cold and hot heading capabilities, enabling production of complex fasteners like bolts and screws with drilled heads. It also offers good machinability for turning, grinding, and drilling operations.
5、Broad Service Temperature Range
Suitable for medium-high temperature environments up to 300℃ (572℉). However, it's important to note that it cannot be used at temperatures exceeding 300℃ or in extremely low temperatures.
