Product Description
We specialize in supplying ASTM A36 hot-rolled carbon steel round bars, fully compliant with the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards. As a classic low-carbon structural steel, A36 offers excellent weldability, reliable tensile strength, and good machinability. Manufactured through high-temperature continuous rolling, the bars feature a dense microstructure, stable mechanical properties, and a natural mill scale surface. Widely used in steel construction, machinery manufacturing, bridge engineering, automotive components, and general hardware fabrication. Custom length cutting, peeled/turned finishes, and export-grade anti-rust packaging are available.

Key Features
100% ASTM A36 Compliant
Chemical composition & mechanical properties strictly meet US standards, ensuring batch-to-batch consistency for North American & global structural procurement.
Excellent Weldability & Machinability
Low-carbon design allows welding without preheating; smooth turning, milling, drilling, and tapping with clean chip breakage, ideal for fast production.
Hot-Rolled Quality Assurance
High-temperature rolling refines grain structure, eliminates internal stress, and ensures excellent straightness & concentricity, reducing machining allowances.
Full Size Range & Fast Dispatch
0.1mm-500mm mainstream diameters kept in stock, supporting 3-7 day quick delivery to shorten your production cycle.
Flexible Customization & Inspection
Custom cutting, chamfering, deburring, anti-rust packaging, and third-party inspection (SGS/Intertek) available upon request.
Applications
Steel structures & bridge engineering components
Machinery frames, bases & drive shafts
Fasteners, connectors & standard parts manufacturing

FAQ
Q1: What’s the difference between ASTM A36 and 1018/1020? Can they be substituted?
A: A36 is a structural steel standard focused on yield strength & weldability, while 1018/1020 are cold-drawn/machining steel standards. They can be partially interchangeable for general fabrication, but A36 is superior for welded load-bearing structures.
Q2: Does the mill scale surface affect welding or machining?
A: No. The natural oxide layer aids chip evacuation during machining. For welding, light grinding or pickling before use is sufficient. For bright finishes, we offer peeling or turning services.
Q3: What is the diameter tolerance? Can tighter tolerances be achieved?
A: Standard hot-rolled tolerance: ±0.5~±1.0mm (varies by diameter). For ±0.1mm or tighter, we recommend upgrading to cold-drawn round bars or precision turning.
Q4: Can you provide material certificates & third-party testing?
A: Yes. Every batch includes the original Mill Test Certificate (MTC). Third-party testing (SGS/Intertek/CTI) for chemical composition & mechanical properties is available upon request.
Q5: What is the MOQ and lead time?
A: Standard grades MOQ: 5-10 tons per diameter. In-stock items ship in 3-7 days. Custom cutting/special packaging takes 10-15 days, confirmed per order.
Q6: How is export packaging protected against rust & moisture?
A: Standard export packing uses moisture-proof anti-rust paper + steel strapping + pallet/fumigated crate. Optional VCI vacuum film available. Fully compliant with seaworthy & salt-spray resistance standards.
